Judge: Prosecution Failed to Prove its Case
(Blades Case)
Tuesday June 18th, 1996 from The Sun Sentinel, by Evelyn Larrubia
"With a daughter in each arm and a face full of tears, Seattle Seahawks receiver Brian Blades left the Broward County Courthouse a free man Monday.
During a hearing that lasted less than a minute, Circuit Judge Susan Lebow reversed the verdict against the former University of Miami football star by granting a dense motion for a directed verdict of not guilty.
In so ruling, Lebow erased Friday’s jury verdict, which found Blades guilty of manslaughter in the July 5 shooting death of his cousin, Charles Blades."
